The Power of a Positive Money Mindset in Midlife and Beyond

When you hear the phrase positive money mindset, what’s your first reaction?

Does it feel empowering? A little too woo woo? Something that sounds nice - for other women?

Pause for a moment and notice your honest response. That reaction tells you a lot about the story you’re currently telling yourself about money.

At this stage of life, you’ve lived through enough financial experiences to know that money is closely tied to emotions. You have feelings about money, and they’re wrapped up in memories of childhood, mistakes and successes over the years, where you stand financially at this moment, and what you want your next chapter to look like.

Which is exactly why it’s never too late to develop, nurture, and revel in a positive mindset around money.

A positive money mindset isn’t about blind optimism. It’s about choosing to understand and relate to your money from a place that feels good. It’s about reframing old beliefs and forming new supportive stories that reflect who you are now - a capable, smart, and financially savvy woman.

Don’t feel those words describe you yet? Stick with me, my friend!

A positive money mindset doesn’t begin with pretending. It begins by creating awareness when you notice…

- the thoughts that automatically surface when you check your accounts.
- the tension in your body when you think about retirement.
- the language you use when you describe yourself financially.

If you find most of your money-based thoughts and feelings rooted in fear, scarcity, shame, guilt, or unworthiness, understand that these were learned - and you can choose to learn something different!

Many of the beliefs you carry about money were formed decades ago. Maybe you absorbed them in childhood. Maybe they were shaped during lean seasons, career pivots, divorce, raising children, or rebuilding after a setback. At one point, your limiting beliefs may have protected you. But that doesn’t mean they serve you now.

And this, my friend, is where the power of a positive mindset lives.

With your awareness in place, you can more closely examine the story you’re telling yourself about money. You can transform old patterns into new thoughts and habits that work for you now and into the future.

By now, you’re probably (hopefully!) wondering how to create consistently positive thoughts and feelings around money. Well, I’m here to help you!

I made a three-page workbook to guide you through:

  • Gentle observation of your current money narrative

  • Impactful rewrites of limiting beliefs
